Our Journey for Sophie – A Day to Remember
What an incredible day it was for our “Our Journey for Sophie” charity event. Months of planning came together as the club and the local community united to support Sophie’s Journey, and the result was something truly special.
The day began bright and early at 7:00am, as our dedicated team started the challenge of travelling the distance between the six stadiums of the Six Nations Championship — a huge 1,430 miles — through a combination of rowing, running and cycling. It was an ambitious target, but one that perfectly captured the spirit of the day: teamwork, determination and community support.
By 9:30am the doors opened, and the venue quickly filled with families, supporters and curious visitors wanting to see what was going on. Stalls, activities and plenty of smiling faces created a brilliant atmosphere from the start.
Throughout the day there was something for everyone. Our coaches ran fun rugby sessions so young players could try the sport, while the bouncy castle kept younger visitors entertained. Later on, many returned to the pitch for a lively game of tag rugby, giving even more people the chance to get involved and experience rugby in a fun and welcoming way.
As the afternoon rolled on, the energy didn’t drop. With the Six Nations matches playing on the big screen, supporters gathered to enjoy the rugby while cheering on the challenge participants who were steadily clocking up the miles.
Then came an incredible moment — the challenge was completed with an hour and a half to spare. The team successfully reached the 1,430-mile target, a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the determination shown by everyone involved.
What started as an idea to support an amazing cause turned into a full day of activity, laughter, and community spirit.
Even more amazingly, the event has already raised over £2,000 for Sophie’s Journey — and the total is still rising as more donations continue to come in.
Most importantly, the day helped raise vital awareness and funds to support people who truly need it, which is exactly what Sophie’s Journey is all about.
The Challenge Route
Our challenge followed the route between the six iconic stadiums used during the Six Nations Championship:
Stadio Olimpico
Stade de France
Twickenham Stadium
Principality Stadium
Aviva Stadium
Murrayfield Stadium
Covering the 1,430 miles between them was no small task, but thanks to some incredible effort from everyone involved, the miles quickly started adding up.

A special mention has to go to some of our amazing cyclists who put in huge efforts on the bikes throughout the day:
Emma – 135 miles
Tooke – 100 miles
Kiff – 87 miles
Charlie – 82 miles
Their efforts alone contributed massively to reaching the target early and showed just how determined everyone was to make the challenge a success.
